The students of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering attended a guest Lecture presided by Mr. A. Sambath Kumar JTE in BSNL, Gingee Thaluk, Villupuram. The head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Dr. P. Raja and the faculty members namely Mrs.A.Sivagami, Dr.J.Pradeep, Mr.R.Ramani and Mr.M.Harikrishnan played an important part in organizing the guest Lecture.

The guest Lecture highlighted on the fact that why 4G is still better than 3G and pointed out that the only advanced feature of 4G is speed. He insisted that 4G is advanced, but there is a large pool of inventions yet to be discovered to make 4G much cheaper. He also cleared the view of students that mobiles at present use Circuit Switching whereas 4G doesn’t support this kind of Switching.

COGNIZANCE OF AWARENESS

A guest lecture was conducted for the final year students of the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering on 29.02.2016. The main focus was “Cognizance on UPSC and UGC exams.” Mr.Shivasankar who is associated with Shankar IAS academy and a graduate in Computer Science and Management studies gave a brief lecture on the examination patterns and the eligibility criteria of the exams. The Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Dr. P. Raja presided over the meeting and honored the chief guest.

ABOUT THE LECTURE The chief guest was welcomed by the staff members and was felicitated at the beginning of the session. The guest lecture was on “COGNIZANCE OF AWARNESS”. The lecture generally was focused on Civil Services which is broadly classified into two categories namely the centre and the state. It was brought into light that UPSC and SSC falls under the centre and TNPSC falls under the state. The discussion followed by listing down all the “All India Services” and “The Central Services” and the nature of these services were briefly explained. It was informed that the graduates in various discipline from recognized universities become eligible for these examinations. It was summed up with the age limit for aspirants falling under each category.

APPLICATIONS OF MANAGEMENT IN ENGINEERING

A guest lecture on “Applications of Management in Engineering” was organized for final year students on 18-02-2016. It was delivered by Professor V.C Malarmannan, Director, Department of Management Studies, Nalanda School of Business, Trichy. Dr.P.Raja, Associate Professor and Head, Department of ECE welcomed the gathering and honored the resource person. ABOUT THE LECTURE The chief guest was first welcomed by the staff members and was felicitated at the session’s dawn. The guest lecture was about APPLICATIONS OF MANAGEMENT ON ENGINEERING. He started of with a quote which goes “I want Leaders and not Volunteers”. This intrigued every student from the class to be willing to be a participant. He also believed in strong philosophies that to be a manager one must have a killer instinct. He added that the world is competitive and one person’s reluctance is another’s opportunity.

ROLE OF CONTROL SYSTEMS IN BSNL



The guest lecture on “Role of control systems in BSNL” was arranged for second year students on 12-02-2016. The lecture is delivered by Mr. D. Krishnan TTA, BSNL services Puducherry. Mrs.R.Kurinjimalar, Assistant Professor Department of ECE welcomes the gathering and honored the resource person. ABOUT THE LECTURE The guest was first welcomed by the staff members and was felicitated at the beginning of the session. The guest lecture was about Role of control systems in BSNL.

The guest lecture began with the basics of control system and their important role in any communication service. With the basics of control systems, the guest continued his lecture on the wired and wireless call routing between subscribers. He described the basic architecture of all the four generations of mobile telecommunications. He also gave us sound knowledge about the distribution of channels among the service providers.
