Sri Manakula Vinayaga Educational Trust was established with the vision of providing quality and affordable education to students from all sections of society, particularly underserved communities. In 1999, the Trust founded Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC), which has grown into one of the prominent engineering colleges in Pondicherry. The institution received autonomous status from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the period 2019–2029 and continues to be affiliated with Pondicherry University.
