The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, which began in 1999 with 60 students, has grown substantially at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College. It now takes 300 students per year and is supported by over 50 experienced faculty members. The department provides B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (Big Data Analytics), and Ph.D. courses. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that blends theoretical understanding with hands-on experience, including essential ideas, programming languages, algorithms, data structures, and system architecture.

Cutting-edge laboratories outfitted with current computing infrastructure enable hands-on learning and foster a culture of exploration, critical thinking, and inquiry. Our Computer Science and Engineering department at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College offers B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Business Systems. We also provide M.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, focusing on advanced technologies and software development.

Our Computer Science and Engineering department has highly accomplished students that constantly thrive academically and beyond. From 2014 to 2021, the department maintained an exceptional 95% placement rate.

Achievements

Our department's students earned outstanding achievement in a variety of fields during the "ICON" event on October 25, 2023. BARANI, a second-year student, won first place in CODE DEBUGGING, exhibiting excellent proficiency and receiving a $1200 cash award. Additionally, Dhinesh Saravanan and Sharath won first place in MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT, demonstrating their ingenuity and winning an 800 cash award.

Students Achievements

Our Students C. Meena and A. Priyanka of II Year CSE ,E Section, won Third Prize in Feature Forge, held at Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology on 14.03.2026, and received a cash award of ₹500.
The students Naviya Jaisankar, Vidharshana, and Akshitha from Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College secured 3rd Prize with a cash award of Rs.700 in Cryptic Hunt at Technovation 2K25. The event was organized by the Department of CSE at Mailam Engineering College.
Our Student Karthik K from Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College secured First Prize in Mitilence – Photography Competition at MIT. His creativity and visual storytelling stood out among the participants. He received a cash prize of ₹2000, bringing pride to the Institution.
Our Students II Year CSE students Muruganandam K, Sarvesh J, Vishnu O, and Yugesh Kumar J have secured the Best Performer Award in the 24-hour hackathon held at Mailam Engineering College on 23rd and 24th March 2026. They were rewarded with a cash prize of ₹1000 and were also offered an internship by ASPIVOX Company.
Our Students Harsdaha . R and Abinisha.R of II Year CSE , E Section, won First Prize in Technobot, held at Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology on 14.03.2026, and received a cash award of ₹2000
Students actively participated in a skill development training session under the IndiaSkills initiative, enhancing their practical computer skills. The session was conducted in Puducherry, where participants demonstrated focus and technical proficiency in a lab environment
