Post Graduate Programmes– Induction Ceremony 2026

Introduction


Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College organized the Induction Ceremony for the Post Graduate Programmes – MBA, MCA and M.Tech on 21st September 2026 at the SMVEC Auditorium. The ceremony was organized to formally welcome the newly admitted postgraduate students and introduce them to the academic environment, institutional values and opportunities available at the college. The programme brought together the management, faculty members and students to mark the beginning of a new academic journey for the postgraduate learners.

Inaugural Ceremony


The ceremony commenced with the Thamizh Thai Vaazhthu and the SMVEC Anthem, invoking blessings and reflecting the institution’s values, unity and spirit. This was followed by an engaging Audio-Visual Presentation highlighting SMVEC’s academic environment, infrastructure, achievements and diverse opportunities available to students, providing the newly joined postgraduate students with an overview of their new academic ecosystem.

Lighting of Kuthuvilakku


The dignitaries ceremonially lit the Kuthuvilakku, marking the auspicious beginning of the Induction Ceremony. The lighting of the traditional lamp symbolized the dispelling of darkness and the spreading of knowledge, wisdom and positivity. The ceremony represented the beginning of a new academic journey for the postgraduate students and conveyed the spirit of learning, growth and excellence. 

Welcome Address


The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. N.S.N. Cailassame, Dean of Placement and Management Studies, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, parents and newly admitted MBA, MCA and M.Tech students. He highlighted that the induction programme marked the beginning of a new phase of academic learning, professional growth, innovation and personal development. He emphasized the institution’s commitment to developing students with technical knowledge, leadership skills, creativity, ethical values and social responsibility. He briefly outlined the opportunities available in the MBA, MCA and M.Tech programmes and encouraged students to learn, explore, innovate and collaborate. He also thanked the parents for their trust and assured them of the institution’s continued support in fulfilling the students’ aspirations.

Honouring the Dignitaries


The dignitaries graced the occasion and were formally honoured during the ceremony. Their presence added significance to the induction programme and encouraged the students as they embarked on their postgraduate journey.

Address by the Dean of Research


Dr. K. Velmurugan, Dean of Research, addressed the students on developing a research mindset, responsible use of Artificial Intelligence, and innovation-driven learning. He encouraged them to question problems, explore existing solutions and develop innovative approaches. He emphasized that AI should be used to enhance knowledge, not replace thinking and creativity, while maintaining academic integrity. He also motivated students to think beyond marks and focus on projects that address real-world challenges, which could lead to research publications, patents, prototypes, consultancy opportunities and start-ups. He concluded by wishing the students success and a bright future in their academic journey.

Address by the Dean of Academics


Dr. A.A. Arivalagar, Dean of Academics, addressed the students and welcomed them to the postgraduate programmes. He highlighted that the institution aims to develop future leaders, rather than merely producing graduates, and encouraged students to make the best use of the learning opportunities available at the institution. He emphasized the importance of focus, self-learning, knowledge, skill development, communication, personality development, values and ethics during their two-year academic journey. He motivated the students to actively utilize the available resources, guidance and opportunities to enhance their overall capabilities. He concluded by wishing all the students success and encouraged them to become world-class professionals and leaders.

Address by the Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering


Dr. P. Raja, Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering, addressed the students during the PG Induction Programme and highlighted the institution’s 27 years of academic excellence and commitment to quality education. He encouraged the postgraduate students to specialize and strengthen the knowledge gained during their undergraduate studies in their respective fields of MBA, MCA and M.Tech. He emphasized the importance of shaping and fine-tuning their skills with a clear goal to achieve their future aspirations. He wished all the students success and expressed confidence that their academic journey at the institution would help them fulfil their dreams.

Presidential Address


The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. V.S.K. Venkatachalapathy, Director-Cum-Principal, who welcomed the newly admitted postgraduate students and parents to the PG Induction Programme. He highlighted the institution’s 27 years of academic excellence and encouraged students to make effective use of its multidisciplinary learning environment, infrastructure and opportunities. He emphasized the importance of leadership, self-learning, positive thinking, focus, communication and personality development, while also stressing the need to understand emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. He encouraged students to transform their knowledge into meaningful innovation and contribute to society. He also highlighted the values of loyalty, gratitude, character, integrity and continuous self-improvement, and motivated students to utilize their two-year postgraduate journey effectively to achieve their aspirations and build a successful future.

Vote of Thanks


The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Prof. R. Ramakrishnan, Head of the Department of Computer Applications (MCA), who expressed his sincere gratitude to the management, Director-Cum-Principal, Deans, faculty members, parents and students for their valuable presence and support. He appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and support staff in making the PG Induction Programme a successful and memorable occasion. He concluded by thanking everyone for their contribution and wholehearted participation.

National Anthem


The programme concluded with the National Anthem, rendered with a deep sense of patriotism, pride and respect. All the dignitaries, faculty members, parents and students stood together in honour of the nation and participated with solemnity. The rendition created a sense of unity, responsibility and national pride among all those present. It marked a dignified and memorable conclusion to the PG Induction Programme, setting a positive note for the students as they began their new academic journey.

Conclusion
