World Literary Day

Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College celebrated “World Literacy Day” on 9th September with a series of engaging activities and insightful discussions. This year’s theme, “Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace,” underscored the importance of fostering a multilingual approach to education as a means to enhance global harmony and mutual respect.

The event was graced by Mr. Stephen Raj Peria, the former Head of the Department of English at the Institute of Language and Cultural Studies, Royal University of Bhutan. With his extensive background in linguistic studies and multicultural education, Mr. Peria provided a profound perspective on the role of multilingual education in bridging cultural divides and promoting peace. Dr.Jaichithra,HOD Department of English honoured the Chief Guest.   

Mr. Peria delivered the session speech, emphasizing the transformative power of multilingual education. He highlighted how learning multiple languages not only improves cognitive skills but also fosters greater empathy and understanding among diverse cultures.

Students participated in various activities in a bid to practice and promote multilingual skills, language exchange sessions were held where students and faculty could engage in conversations. These sessions provided a platform for participants to practice language skills in a real-world context.
