The AICTE IDEA Lab Tech Fest 2025 marked a new chapter in India’s technological and academic landscape. Held at the AICTE headquarters in New Delhi, this inaugural national-level fest was a dynamic celebration of innovation, creativity, and cutting-edge technology. Drawing in over 1,500 attendees from across the country—including faculty, student innovators, exhibitors, and technology enthusiasts—the event turned into a buzzing hub of ideas and possibilities.
A Platform for Problem-Solving and Creativity
The highlight of the Tech Fest was the participation of institutions supported by the AICTE IDEA Lab initiative. These institutions, through student- and faculty-led innovations, showcased their commitment to solving real-world challenges using technology.
Across 76 interactive stalls, visitors witnessed live demonstrations of inventions spanning multiple domains—healthcare, environment, smart devices, automation, agriculture, and more.
🥇 First Place Winner: SMVEC, Puducherry
Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC) secured the top position for two groundbreaking projects that addressed two pressing societal needs—clean water access and elderly care safety.
Rapid Chlorine Testing Device
The first innovation was a chlorine testing device capable of delivering accurate results in under one minute. Traditional water testing methods usually take 2–3 days, posing delays in critical health and safety actions. SMVEC’s portable, time-efficient solution has the potential to revolutionize public water testing, especially in rural and disaster-prone areas.
‘Safemade’: An AI-Powered Fall Prevention System
Their second innovation, ‘Safemade’, is an AI-driven fall prevention device designed to ensure elderly safety. The smart system monitors movements and provides instant alerts to caregivers during fall-risk scenarios. With India’s growing elderly population, such innovations are timely and vital.
Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC), Puducherry, took home the first prize, leaving a lasting impression on judges and visitors alike and received cash prize of ₹1 lakh, in recognition of their technical brilliance and potential for real-world impact.
Celebrating the Spirit of Making and Innovation
The IDEA Lab Tech Fest 2025 didn’t just recognize technological brilliance—it celebrated collaboration, experimentation, and societal impact. The event demonstrated how AICTE’s IDEA Lab ecosystem is nurturing a new generation of innovators who aren’t just building tech for the sake of it, but for a better, safer, and smarter future.
With its resounding success, the Tech Fest sets the tone for an annual tradition of showcasing student-driven innovation at a national level.
