Introduction

Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College organized the Yoga Day Competition 2026 on 10 July 2026 to promote the importance of yoga for physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting the true spirit of yoga.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Yoga Day Competition 2026 was inaugurated with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by the Chief Guest, in the esteemed presence of the Treasurer and the Director cum Principal. The ceremony marked the official commencement of the event and was witnessed by faculty members, participants, and students, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere for the day’s proceedings.
Invocation
The programme commenced with the rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the SMVEC Anthem, invoking a sense of respect, unity, and institutional pride among the gathering.
Honouring the Dignitaries



The distinguished dignitaries were warmly welcomed and honoured as a token of appreciation for their esteemed presence and continuous support. The ceremonial exchange of honours reflected the institution’s tradition of recognizing leadership and service.
Dove Release Ceremony

The dove release ceremony was held as a symbolic gesture representing peace, harmony, unity, and the universal values promoted through the practice of yoga.
Balloon Release Ceremony

A colourful balloon release ceremony was conducted by the dignitaries, symbolizing peace, positivity, and the spirit of wellness associated with the celebration of International Yoga Day.
Green Flag-Off Ceremony

The Treasurer ceremonially waved the green flag, officially flagging off the Yoga Day Competition and encouraging the participants to exhibit discipline, confidence, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Yoga Competition




Students enthusiastically participated in the competition by demonstrating various yoga asanas with exceptional flexibility, balance, posture, coordination, and concentration. The performances reflected their consistent practice, discipline, and understanding of the principles of yoga.
Treasurer’s Address

Shri. D. Rajarajan, Treasurer – SMVET, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of practicing yoga for a healthy body, peaceful mind, and disciplined life. She appreciated the participants and wished them success in the competition.
Chief Guest’s Address

The Triyogi Yoga Fitness Team presented an impressive yoga demonstration, showcasing a variety of yoga asanas with exceptional flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination. Prize Distribution





The best performers were honoured with prizes in recognition of their excellence in yoga. As a token of appreciation for their enthusiastic participation and dedication, all participants were presented with mementos.
Presentation of Mementos and Honouring Ceremony



The jury members were honoured with mementos and medals in recognition of their valuable contribution and impartial evaluation throughout the competition. The members of the Triyogi Yoga Fitness team and the Physical Education Department were also felicitated with mementos in appreciation of their dedicated support, meticulous planning, and successful coordination in organizing the Yoga Day Competition 2026.
National Anthem

The event concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the gathering inspired by the spirit of unity, discipline, and the enduring significance of yoga in fostering a healthy and harmonious society.
