FIRST YEAR INDUCTION DAY – 2025

         
The event commenced with a vibrant and energetic welcome dance performed by our talented students. The mesmerizing performance was not just a display of skill, but also a heartfelt gesture to greet all the guests and participants with warmth and positivity. Each move and rhythm reflected the spirit of celebration, setting a lively tone for the day ahead. The audience was captivated by the coordination, expressions, and sheer enthusiasm of the students, making it a perfect start to an event filled with inspiration, learning, and togetherness.

Following the vibrant welcome dance, the Heads of Departments (HODs) from all 11 engineering disciplines addressed the students, introducing their departments and highlighting key courses, projects, and opportunities. Through engaging insights and real-life examples, the HODs helped students understand the academic scope of each branch, inspiring them to explore their interests and envision a successful engineering journey ahead.  

Lighting the Lamp


The event reached a moment of solemnity and tradition with the ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp, marking the official inauguration. This ritual, symbolic of dispelling darkness and ushering in knowledge, was performed with reverence by the dignitaries and senior faculty members. The flickering flame represented the pursuit of wisdom, enlightenment, and the bright journey that the students are about to embark upon.

Welcome Address and Annual Report:



Welcome Address and Annual Report was delivered by Dr. V.S.K. Venkatachalapathy Director cum Principal. In his address he emphasized that on this joyous occasion, we proudly celebrated the 25th anniversary of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, reflecting on our journey of excellence and remarkable achievements over the years. The event commenced with a warm welcome to our esteemed Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, HODs, faculty, staff, students, and parents, acknowledging their invaluable support in shaping the institution. Highlights of the college’s journey, infrastructure, academic programs, Centres of Excellence, innovation hubs, industry collaborations, and accolades—including national rankings, patents, and awards—were shared, emphasizing SMEC’s commitment to nurturing future-ready leaders, innovators, and professionals. The address also recognized the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders and the role of parents in supporting students’ growth, creating an inspiring and celebratory atmosphere for the milestone event.

Placement Report:


Placement Report was delivered by Dr. N.S.N. Cailassame, Dean – Placement. In his report He shared about over the past three years, more than 1,000 students had received offers from top companies and universities, including TCS, CTS, Wipro, Zoho, FlexIndia, and Amazon. He highlighted how SMVEC supports students in achieving diverse career goals—whether in industry, higher studies, or government roles—through strong industry collaborations, workshops, hands-on training, and innovation initiatives at technology research and incubation centres. He emphasized that aligning the curriculum with industry trends, fostering entrepreneurship, and leveraging alumni guidance ensures students are well-prepared for a rapidly evolving professional landscape. He also expressed gratitude to parents, all stakeholders for their support in empowering students to realize their dreams and excel in their careers.

Felicitation Address:


The Chief Felicitation Address was Delivered by Dr. Narayanasamy Kesavan Secretary of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Educational Trust (SMVET). in his thought-provoking address, the speaker encouraged students to develop a genuine interest in engineering and to recognize the vast opportunities it offers in the coming years. He highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence, noting that within the next four years, nearly 12.5% of all jobs will be AI-related, which underlines the need for students to equip themselves with certifications and specialized skills. He emphasized that engineering institutions, with the support of dedicated faculty members and collaborations with leading companies such as TCS, Qualcomm, and others, provide a strong foundation for students to thrive in this changing technological landscape. Referring to initiatives taken by the central government in areas like data privacy and digital transactions, he pointed out that such advancements make the present time a stimulating environment for students to learn, innovate, and practice. He concluded by motivating students to set great ambitions, continuously update their knowledge, and develop the discipline to excel in both hardware and software domains for a successful future.

Felicitation Address:

 
Felicitation Address was Delivered by Dr. D. Nila Priyadharshini, Pro Chancellor, Takshashila University. In her Address She emphasizing the importance of goal-setting, consistency, and habit-building in shaping one’s destiny. She highlighted time as the most valuable resource, encouraging students to use it wisely for learning, personal growth, and meaningful interactions rather than distractions. Stressing the rapid evolution of technology, she advised adaptability to emerging fields such as AI, quantum computing, and green technology, while also underlining the significance of strong character, integrity, and responsibility. She concluded by inspiring students to imagine boldly, act with discipline, build with integrity, and live with character, assuring that these principles, combined with consistent effort, would pave the way for success in their engineering journey.

Felicitation Address:


Felicitation Address was Delivered by Shri. D. Rajarajan, Treasurer of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Educational Trust (SMVET). In his address, He extended a warm welcome to everyone on the bright morning and appreciated the tireless efforts of the organizing team, who had worked through the night to ensure the smooth execution of the event. He emphasized the importance of both hard work and smart work, stating that smartness alone is not enough, but when combined with consistent effort, it leads to long-term success. Highlighting the significance of networking, he encouraged students to build connections not only within their own departments but also with peers from other schools and disciplines, as such interactions would prove valuable both during their academic journey and in the future. He concluded by wishing all the students the very best for their endeavours and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to address the gathering.

Presidential Address:


Presidential Address Delivered by Shri. M. Dhanasekaran, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Educational Trust (SMVET). In his address, He appreciated the large gathering of students and acknowledged the enthusiastic participation that made the event a grand success. He highlighted the importance of moving beyond theoretical learning by gaining practical knowledge and project-based experience, which play a vital role in shaping careers. Drawing from his own entrepreneurial journey, he shared insights about starting a company, sustaining it for over 16 years, and growing it into a billion-dollar enterprise, emphasizing that every great idea can be transformed into a successful product with proper planning and execution. He also encouraged students to think innovatively, develop startups, and make use of the resources and opportunities provided by the institution. He concluded by stressing that the college environment is a crucial stepping stone for students to shape their future and wished them continued success in their endeavours.

Guest of Honour Address:


Guest of Honour Address Was delivered by Shri. Ravi Kumar Murthy, Regional Head, HR, Academic Alliances Group, TCS, Chennai. In his inspiring address, He expressed his deep connection with the institution and extended a warm welcome to the newly admitted students and their parents. He addressed the current global employment scenario, highlighting the shift from a people-based delivery model to a platform-based delivery model, which has caused uncertainties like job losses. Urging students not to be discouraged by negative news, he emphasized the importance of self-belief, positive thinking, and disciplined lifestyle as key factors for success. 


He encouraged students to set clear goals, seek proper guidance, and work towards becoming industry experts in their chosen fields, be it cybersecurity, SAP, or other emerging domains. Stressing that age or years of experience should not limit ambition, he motivated them to aim for leadership, entrepreneurship, and legacy-building within the next four years. He also reminded students to remain grateful for their families, institution, and the opportunities they have, while developing knowledge, skills, and attitude to serve society and the nation. Concluding his talk, he urged parents to in still positivity at home and inspired students to create a successful future as leaders of tomorrow.

Chief Guest Address:


The Chief Guest Address was Delivered by Shri. Natarajan Swaminathan Delivery Head, Cyber Security – TCS, Chennai. In his address, He highlighted the essential qualities a student should cultivate, explaining that true learning comes from acquiring one-fourth knowledge, one-fourth experience, and the remaining through continuous growth over time. He emphasized that students should feel proud to be part of an institution that constantly strives to enhance their skills and knowledge. Drawing comparisons between different educational environments, he pointed out that real impact comes from necessity-driven learning and innovation, citing examples such as emerging technologies like driverless cars. He further stressed the importance of focus, consistent effort, and social responsibility, noting that every professional—whether in project management, cybersecurity, or any other field—must uphold responsibility and ethical values in their journey. He concluded his motivating address by reminding students that responsibility and discipline are the foundations of long-term success.

Vote of Thanks:


The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. S. Jayakumar, Controller of Examinations, who expressed his gratitude to the management, dignitaries, faculty members, students, and parents for their valuable presence and support in making the event a grand success.
