RHINO IN BIM WORKFLOW – STEEL AND PANEL MODELING
1. Introduction
The Department of Civil Engineering, Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC), in association with the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), organized a Guest Lecture on “Rhino in BIM Workflow – Steel and Panel Modeling” on 08th January 2026 for the benefit of Second and Third Year Civil Engineering students.
The lecture was delivered by Er. A. Evanick Ryan, BIM Modeller, Firbrex Construction Group, Abu Dhabi. The session was conducted in the Engineering Block Seminar Hall (3rd Floor) and commenced at 11:00 AM. The primary aim of the lecture was to provide students with practical insights into advanced modeling techniques in the BIM workflow and demonstrate the use of Rhino for steel and panel modeling in construction projects.
2. Objectives of the Guest Lecture
The main objectives of the guest lecture were to:
1. Introduce students to the concept of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and its applications in modern construction.
2. Familiarize students with Rhino and Grasshopper as parametric modeling tools within the BIM workflow.
3. Demonstrate steel modeling techniques, including beams, columns, trusses, and structural connections, using Rhino.
