80th Independence Day Celebration 2026

A Grand Celebration of Freedom and Patriotism


Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm on 15th August 2026. The celebration brought together the management, faculty members, staff and students to commemorate India’s freedom and honour the values of unity, sacrifice and nation-building.

Welcome Dance


The celebrations commenced with a vibrant Welcome Dance presented by Prishika K & Team from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). Their energetic and graceful performance created a lively atmosphere and warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, staff and students. The captivating presentation beautifully reflected the spirit of patriotism, unity and celebration, setting an enthusiastic tone for the Independence Day programme.

Thamizh Thai Vazhthu & Vande Mataram


The gathering paid tribute to Tamil language and culture with Thamizh Thai Vazhthu, presented by Indumathy & Team from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), invoking a sense of cultural pride and unity. This was followed by the soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, which filled the gathering with a deep sense of patriotism, national pride and devotion to the motherland.

Welcome Address


The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. V.S.K. Venkatachalapathy, Director cum Principal, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, staff and students. He expressed his gratitude for their gracious presence and support and highlighted the significance of India’s Independence and the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. He encouraged students to value their freedom, uphold the ideals of the nation and contribute responsibly towards building a stronger and progressive India.

Honouring the Dignitaries



The dignitaries of the institution were honoured as a mark of respect and appreciation for their leadership and continued contribution towards the growth and development of the institution.

Flag Hoisting Ceremony


The highlight of the celebration was the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, led by the Chairman & Managing Director. The National Flag was hoisted with pride, symbolising India’s freedom, unity and sovereignty. The gathering saluted the National Flag with a deep sense of patriotism.

Flag Song


The patriotic spirit of the occasion continued with the Flag Song, presented by Indumathy & Team from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). The soulful rendition created a powerful atmosphere of national pride and unity, inspiring everyone gathered to celebrate the spirit of freedom and honour the nation.

Independence Day Pledge


The gathering took the Independence Day Pledge, led by Dr. K. Velmurugan, Dean – Research. The pledge reminded everyone of their duties and responsibilities as citizens of the nation and encouraged the students to uphold the values of unity, integrity, discipline and patriotism while contributing positively to society and the nation’s progress.

March Past


The March Past by the parade students added grandeur and discipline to the celebrations. The students marched with confidence and precision, reflecting the values of discipline, unity and dedication.

Students’ Speeches


Students actively participated in the celebration through inspiring speeches in both English and Tamil. Kaviyanjali J from IT delivered the English Speech, while Ranjani M from CSE delivered the Tamil Speech. Their words reflected the responsibilities of the younger generation in building a stronger and progressive India.

Felicitation Address


The Felicitation Address was delivered by Shri. D. Rajarajan, Treasurer. He highlighted that 1947 was not the finish line, but the starting point of India’s journey towards progress. The speaker emphasised that freedom gives us the opportunity to shape our future, while our choices, discipline and actions determine the direction we take. He encouraged students to use technology and freedom responsibly for learning, innovation, personal growth and nation-building, reminding everyone that individual contributions collectively create a stronger nation.

Presidential Address


The Presidential Address was delivered by Shri. M. Dhanasekaran, Chairman & Managing Director. He focused on the importance of responsible citizenship and India’s strength as a diverse and democratic nation. He highlighted that citizens today have the power and responsibility to contribute towards the country’s progress, while emphasising the role of education, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation in creating new opportunities and building a stronger nation.

Prize Distribution Ceremony


The celebration also recognised and appreciated the achievements of students through the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Prizes were presented for: Rank Holders, 100% Attendance, Competition Winners, and Winners in March Past. The ceremony celebrated the students’ dedication, perseverance and achievements.
