A Proud Milestone: 22nd Graduation Day
The 22nd Graduation Day of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC) was celebrated with great pride and dignity on 1st March 2026. The ceremony marked a memorable milestone in the academic journey of graduating students, celebrating their achievements and recognizing their hard work and dedication.
Assemblage of Dignitaries
The ceremony commenced with the assemblage of dignitaries in the Chairman’s Chamber, where the Chief Guest, Management Members, Director cum Principal, Controller of Examinations, Deans, and Heads of Departments gathered wearing their academic robes, symbolizing the formal beginning of the graduation ceremony.
Academic Procession
The Academic Procession formally began with the dignitaries proceeding to the venue in the traditional order, led by the Heads of Departments, Deans, Controller of Examinations, Director cum Principal, Management Members, and the Chief Guest. The procession reflected the rich academic tradition and discipline of the institution.
Lighting of Kuthuvilakku
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional Kuthuvilakku, a symbol of knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. The dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp, marking an auspicious beginning to the 22nd Graduation Day celebration and signifying the spread of knowledge and success among the graduating students.
Invocation
Following the lamp lighting ceremony, Thamizh Thai Vazhthu was rendered, paying tribute to the mother tongue and cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu. This was followed by the SMVEC Anthem, which filled the venue with a sense of pride and unity, setting a respectful and inspiring tone for the rest of the ceremony.
Welcome Address and Annual Report
The Welcome Address and Annual Report were delivered by Dr. V. S. K. Venkatachalapathy, Director cum Principal, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, parents, and the graduating students. In his address, he highlighted the institution’s academic achievements, research initiatives, placements, and overall institutional growth during the academic year. He appreciated the dedicated efforts of the faculty members and the continuous support of the management in strengthening the quality of education and infrastructure.
Honouring the Dignitaries
The distinguished dignitaries were honoured for their presence and contributions. The Chief Guest, Chairman and Managing Director, Treasurer, Joint Secretary, and Director cum Principal were felicitated by faculty members as a token of gratitude and respect.
Declaration of Graduation Ceremony
The Graduation Ceremony was formally declared open by the Chairman and Managing Director, marking the official commencement of the degree conferment proceedings.
Felicitation Address
The Felicitation Address was delivered by Shri D. Rajarajan, Treasurer, who congratulated the graduates on successfully completing their academic journey. In his address, he emphasized the importance of having clarity in career goals, maintaining curiosity, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving technological world. He encouraged the students to continuously improve their skills through consistent efforts and lifelong learning. He also motivated the graduates to embrace new opportunities, make meaningful contributions to society, and stay connected with the institution through the alumni portal.
Presidential Address
The Presidential Address was delivered by Shri M. Dhanasekaran, Chairman and Managing Director, who congratulated the graduates on achieving an important milestone in their academic journey. In his address, he appreciated the leadership and initiatives of the Vice-Chancellor in strengthening the academic progress of the university and ensuring the smooth conduct of convocation ceremonies. He encouraged the graduates to set clear goals for their future, work consistently towards achieving them, and make use of the opportunities that come their way. He also reminded the students to remain grateful to their parents for their constant support and sacrifices, and motivated them to strive for success while upholding strong values and responsibilities in their personal and professional lives.
Graduation Day Address
The Graduation Day Address was delivered by Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice-Chancellor, Pondicherry University, who congratulated the graduating students on reaching an important milestone in their academic journey. In his inspiring speech, he emphasized that a degree is not only a recognition of academic achievement but also a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation. He also motivated them to become job creators through entrepreneurship and contribute to the nation’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by using their knowledge and skills to create a positive impact on society.
Distribution of Medals and Degree Certificates
The distribution of Gold Medals and Degree Certificates was one of the most important moments of the ceremony. Graduates from departments including EEE, ECE, CSE, IT, ICE, Mechanical, Civil, Biomedical, Mechatronics, CSEBS, CCE, AI & DS, Fashion Technology, and Architecture proudly received their degrees in the presence of the dignitaries, marking the successful completion of their academic journey.
Graduates’ Pledge and Conferment of Degrees
The graduating students took the Graduates’ Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to ethical values and professional responsibility. Following this, the Conferment of Degrees was officially carried out by the Chairman and Managing Director, symbolizing the institution’s recognition of the graduates’ accomplishments.
