About the Department

The Department of Information Technology at SMVEC was established in 1999 with a defined objective of creating eminent technocrats with manifold skillsets. It offers a four-year Bachelor of Technology program in Information Technology and admits 240 students.

The course is accredited by NBA that edges the students in the job market and facilitates higher mobility for study abroad programs. Following an autonomous IT syllabus in line with Outcome based education (OBE), the department fosters equal emphasis on both theoretical and practical aspects of the concepts in the curriculum. As a result, we come under the best list of IT colleges in Pondicherry and IT colleges in Tamilnadu as well.

Experienced faculties impart enriched knowledge to students by utilising the facilities including cutting-edge labs, e-learning-enabled classrooms, dedicated departmental library and a fully-equipped seminar hall.
