Team Tech Bull (Areeswaran R, Tarun V), first-year engineering students at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur, secured a special mention (3rd prize) at the National-Level iCUBE 4.0 Hackathon, held February 7–8, 2025.
About I CUBE 4.0
- A 24-hour national intercollegiate hackathon, organized by the SVCE Science Club
- Featured categories: Inno Wel (Innovate for Wellbeing) and Idea-O-Lite (Shaping the Future)
- Over 90 senior teams nationwide competed for a share of a ₹100,000 prize pool.
Introducing the V2V Hazard Alert System
The Problem
Road conditions can change instantly — bumps, potholes, or sudden hazards pose risks to oncoming vehicles. Drivers often have no warning until it’s too late.
The Innovation
Our team engineered a compact, energy-efficient V2V communication device that:
- Detects bumps and potholes in real-time.
- Transmits instant alerts to nearby vehicles.
- Displays warnings via LEDs for immediate awareness.
- Designed for plug-and-play compatibility across vehicle types.
Why It Matters
- Improves road safety and preemptive hazard mitigation.
- Low-cost, easy-to-install system linked to reduced accident risk.
- Scalable for future integration with smart-city platforms.
Hackathon Journey & Highlights
Abstract & Prototype
Following iCUBE’s phases, we submitted a well-researched abstract and developed a functioning prototype in under 24 hours.
Presentations & Judges’ Feedback
Judges — experts from academia and industry — evaluated our system on innovation, technical feasibility, and real-world impact. We received commendations for our real-time hazard detection algorithm and seamless LED-based alert interface.
3rd Prize – Special Mention
Out of 90+ teams, Team Tech Bull stood out with a “Special Mention (3rd Prize)” — recognition of our dedication, creativity, and potential for positive societal impact.
Conclusion
Team Tech Bull’s achievement at iCUBE 4.0 represents much more than a prize—it’s a testament to youthful ingenuity and passion for societal betterment. This special mention fuels our ambition to make roads smarter and safer, one alert at a time. Congratulations to Areeswaran R & Tarun V on carving out a proud spot for SVCE in national-level innovation.
