World Environment Day 2026 with a series of impactful activities focused on environmental awareness, responsibility, and sustainability. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from the management, faculty members, and students across all departments.
Morning Environmental Pledge
The celebration began with a morning environmental pledge, conducted in every classroom across the campus. Students actively took the pledge based on the World Environment Day 2026 theme, reaffirming their commitment to protect nature, conserve resources, and adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. This initiative instilled a strong sense of environmental responsibility among the students and set a purposeful tone for the day’s events.
Tree Planting Ceremony
Following the pledge, a tree planting ceremony was held on the campus. The sapling was planted by Shri D. Rajarajan, Treasurer of SMVET and Pro-Chancellor of Takshashila University.along with Dr. V. S. K. Venkatachalapathy, Director cum Principal of SMVEC. This act symbolized growth, sustainability, and the institution’s dedication to a greener future.
Welcome Address
The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. G. Mohamed Yassin, Dean of Agriculture. He warmly welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the importance of World Environment Day in creating awareness about environmental conservation among students and the community.
Felicitation Address
The Felicitation Address was given by Dr. V. S. K. Venkatachalapathy, Director cum Principal, SMVEC. In his address, he emphasized the role of educational institutions in promoting sustainable practices and nurturing environmentally conscious citizens.
Presidential Address
The Presidential Address was delivered by Shri D. Rajarajan, Treasurer, SMVET and Pro-Chancellor, Takshashila University. He spoke about current environmental challenges and encouraged students to take proactive steps towards sustainability and environmental protection.
Plant Sapling Distribution
As a part of the celebration, plant saplings were distributed to the students, motivating them to engage in tree plantation activities and contribute to environmental conservation both within and beyond the campus.
