19th Graduation Day – SMVEC (2026)

The 19th Graduation Day of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC) was held on 28th February 2026celebrating the academic achievements of graduating students and marking an important milestone in their educational journey.
Assemblage of Dignitaries

The ceremony began with the dignitaries assembling in the Chairman’s Chamber, dressed in academic robes. The distinguished gathering included the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Special Guest, Management Members, Director cum Principal, Controller of Examinations, Deans, and Heads of Departments.
Academic Procession


The formal Academic Procession marked the commencement of the ceremony. The procession entered the venue in the traditional order, starting with theHeads of Departments and Deans, followed by the Controller of Examinations, Director cum Principal, Special Guest, Guest of Honour, Management Members, and the Chief Guest.
Traditional Inauguration


The event began with the Lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. This was followed by the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, the SMVEC Anthem, and an Audio-Visual presentation (AV Treat) showcasing the achievements and milestones of the institution.
Welcome Address and Annual Report

Dr. V. S. K. Venkatachalapathy, Director cum Principal, delivered the Welcome Address and presented the Annual Report of the institution. In his address, he warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, management members, faculty, parents, and graduates. He highlighted the institution’s academic achievements, including its NAAC ‘A’ Grade accreditation, autonomous status, and its commitment to quality education and research. He proudly mentioned that the students of the institution have consistently excelled in academics, securing 138 Gold Medals and 784 University Ranks, which reflects the dedication and excellence of both students and faculty members. He also congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to pursue lifelong learning and contribute positively to society as they step into their professional journey.

The dignitaries were formally honoured by the management and academic leaders of the institution as a gesture of respect and appreciation for their presence and support. The honouring ceremony reflected the institution’s gratitude for their valuable contributions to the fields of education, research, and leadership.
Declaration of Graduation

The Graduation Ceremony was officially declared open by the Chairman and Managing Director, marking the beginning of the formal graduation proceedings.
Felicitation Address

The Felicitation Address was delivered by Shri. D. Rajarajan, Treasurer, SMVET, who congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their academic journey. In his address, he highlighted the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies, emphasizing the need for graduates to continuously upgrade their skills and adapt to changing industry trends. He also encouraged students to build strong professional connections and stay engaged with the institution through the alumni network, while guiding and supporting their juniors. He concluded by wishing the graduates great success in their future careers.
Presidential Address

The Presidential Address was delivered by Shri. M. Dhanasekaran, Chancellor, Takshashila University and Chairman and Managing Director, SMVET. In his address, he congratulated the graduates and highlighted the remarkable growth of technical education in India, noting that engineering colleges increased from around 700 institutions with nearly1.25 lakh students to more than 2,500 colleges with about 4 lakh seats, which played a significant role in strengthening the nation’s engineering workforce. He also emphasized the steady growth of the institution and its strong connection with the community, mentioning that the educational group today serves around 25,000 students with nearly 6,000 employees. He encouraged the graduates to stay connected with the institution through the alumni network, guide their juniors, and contribute to the continued development and success of the college.
Guest of Honour Address

The Guest of Honour Address was delivered by Dr. R. Sreedhar, Padma Shri Awardee and Former Director, CEMCA, New Delhi. In his address, he shared his experiences and encouraged the graduates to remain confident and positive in their professional journey. He highlighted the importance of perseverance, dedication, and communication skills for achieving success in life. Drawing from his own experiences in the fields of media and education, he advised the graduates to be open to opportunities in different fields and to work sincerely in whatever role they undertake. He concluded by motivating the students to stay positive, continue dreaming, and strive to achieve their goals with determination.
Special Guest Address

The Special Guest Address was delivered by Dr. Kiran K. Rajanna, Chairman and CEO of Ethnotech Academic Solutions, Bengaluru. In his address, he congratulated the graduates and noted that many of them were among the first students trained under the Centre of Excellence established in 2019–2020. He highlighted the rapidly changing industry landscape driven by Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies and emphasized the importance of continuous upskilling to remain relevant in the professional world. He encouraged the graduates to keep learning, adapt to industry demands, and wished them great success in their future careers.
Graduation Day Address

The Graduation Day Address was delivered by Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Former Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi. In his address, he congratulated the graduates and emphasized that graduation marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning, innovation, and service to society. He highlighted the importance of skill development, creativity, and continuous learning in the era of Artificial Intelligence and rapid technological change. He also appreciated the growth and achievements of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, including its strong focus on research, innovation, and industry collaboration. He encouraged the graduates to embrace emerging technologies, develop entrepreneurial thinking, and contribute towards building a developed and innovative India.
Distribution of Medals and Degree Certificates






One of the most significant moments of the ceremony was the distribution of Gold Medals and Degree Certificates. The names of the graduates from various departments including M.Tech, MBA, MCA, EEE, ECE, CSE, IT, ICE, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, and School of Arts and Science were announced by the respective Deans and Heads of Departments.
Outstanding students were recognized with Gold Medals for their exceptional academic performance.
Graduates’ Pledge

The graduating students solemnly took the Graduates’ Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to uphold professional ethics, integrity, and responsibility in their careers. They pledged to utilize their knowledge and skills for the betterment of society and to contribute positively to the development of the nation.

The Gratitude Note was delivered by Dr. S. Jayakumar, Controller of Examinations, who expressed his sincere thanks to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Special Guest, Chairman and Managing Director, Treasurer, Joint Secretary, Director cum Principal, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, media, parents, and graduates for their presence and support in making the 19th Graduation Day a memorable and successful event. He concluded by congratulating the graduates and wishing them success in their future endeavours.
Dissolution of the Graduation Ceremony

The Graduation Ceremony was formally dissolved by the Chairman and Managing Director, marking the official conclusion of the convocation proceedings.
National Anthem

The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, where the entire gathering stood in respect, marking a moment of pride and unity.
Retiring of the Academic Procession

Following the National Anthem, the retiring academic procession took place, bringing the memorable and proud occasion to a graceful close.
