Celebrating Womanhood — Women’s Day 2026

📅  10 March 2026⏰  2:00 PM🏛️  Auditorium

A Day That Shone Brighter Than Ever

Every year, March 8th serves as a reminder of the incredible strength, resilience, and brilliance of women around the world. But this year, the Women Empowerment Cell of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering & Technology took the celebration a step further — transforming it into an unforgettable afternoon of culture, inspiration, and empowerment.

On 10th March 2026, the Auditorium came alive with the energy of a community united in honoring the women who inspire, lead, and uplift those around them. Here’s a full recap of the beautiful event — from the first dance to the final anthem.

Setting the Stage: Opening Ceremonies

The event opened with a spirited Welcome Dance — a vibrant performance that immediately set the tone of joy and celebration. Colourful costumes, graceful movements, and infectious energy drew the audience into the spirit of the day.

This was followed by the soulful Thamizh Thai Vaazhthu, honouring the Tamil language and culture — a reminder that celebrating womanhood also means celebrating the mother tongue that has nurtured generations. The SMV Anthem then resonated through the hall, filling it with institutional pride.

The AV Treat — a specially curated audio-visual presentation — offered a reflective and inspiring journey through the achievements and stories of remarkable women, both local and global.

The Sacred Flame: Lighting of the Kuthuvilakku

In keeping with the tradition of auspicious beginnings, the Lighting of the Kuthuvilakku (traditional lamp) formally inaugurated the proceedings. This timeless ritual symbolises the dispelling of darkness by knowledge — a fitting metaphor for Women’s Day itself.
