Republic Day Celebration at SMVEC – 26th January 2026


SMVEC celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great pride on 26th January 2026. The campus was filled with patriotic spirit as students, faculty, and dignitaries gathered together. The event reflected unity, discipline, and love for the nation.

Inaugural Session


The programme began with Thamizh Thai Vazhthu, followed by the SMVEC Anthem, creating a respectful and inspiring atmosphere. A colourful welcome dance by the CSE girls added joy and cultural beauty to the celebration. It set a positive tone for the entire event.

Welcome Address


The welcome address was delivered by Dr. V.S.K. Venkatachalapathy, Director-cum-Principal of SMVEC, who emphasized the significance of Republic Day and the core values enshrined in the Indian Constitution, such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. In his speech, he warmly welcomed the Chairman and Managing Director, Treasurer, Trustee, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students to the 77th Republic Day celebration. He paid tribute to the freedom fighters for their sacrifices and urged everyone to uphold unity and integrity. Addressing the students, he inspired them to become responsible future leaders and nation builders who would shape India’s progress and prosperity.

Honouring the Dignitaries


The institution honoured its respected dignitaries for their leadership and dedication. Their contributions to academics, research, and student development were appreciated. This moment reflected gratitude and respect from the SMVEC community.

Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The National Flag was hoisted by the Chairman & Managing Director with great pride. The ceremony reminded everyone of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. A patriotic flag song by Sasmida and Team (BME) filled the air with national spirit.

Pledge


The pledge was administered by the Controller of Examinations, emphasizing unity, integrity, and responsibility towards the nation. Students and staff participated actively and repeated the pledge with sincerity. It strengthened the sense of national duty among everyone present.

March Past


The march past by parade students showcased discipline, teamwork, and patriotic spirit. Their synchronized movements impressed the audience and reflected dedication. It was one of the major highlights of the celebration.

Student Speeches


The student speeches added meaning and inspiration to the celebration.
Srivaishnavi M.N (IT) delivered a powerful Tamil speech highlighting national pride and unity.
Kaviyanjali J (IT) presented an impressive English speech emphasizing responsibility and progress for the nation’s future.

Presidential Address


The Presidential Address was delivered by Shri. D. Rajarajan – Treasurer, who highlighted the importance of discipline, academic excellence, and strong moral values in shaping students’ futures. He warmly welcomed the gathering and conveyed his Republic Day wishes to everyone present. In his speech, he encouraged students to work diligently, remain focused on their goals, and contribute positively to society. His inspiring words motivated the students to grow as responsible citizens and uphold the values of the nation.

Chief Guest Address

The Chairman & Managing Director delivered the Chief Guest Address, sharing valuable insights on leadership and national development. He motivated students to pursue their goals with dedication and integrity. His speech left a strong impact on the young minds.

Prize Distribution


Prizes were distributed to recognize students for their academic excellence and active participation. Rank holders, 100% attendance achievers, and competition winners were appreciated. This encouraged students to continue striving for success.

Token of Appreciation


As a mark of gratitude, tokens of appreciation were presented to the committee members and March past judges for their dedicated efforts and valuable support. Their contribution played a major role in the successful organization of the event. This gesture reflected the institution’s respect and appreciation for teamwork.

Vote of Thanks


Dr. S. Jayakumar, Controller of Examinations, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, staff, and students. He appreciated everyone’s efforts in making the event a success. The programme concluded smoothly.

National Anthem


The celebration ended with the National Anthem sung with pride and unity. Everyone stood respectfully, honouring the nation. It marked a memorable conclusion to the Republic Day event.
